For the second successive year, it is looking that UK suicide figures will be over 7,000 cases.
The Office of National Statistics have released figures of 6,190 registered suicided for England & Wales, with figures of 11.1 deaths by suicide per 100,000 people in England, and 15.7 deaths by suicide per 100,000 people in Wales. This reflects an increase of 2% on 2023 figures.
Scotland have reported a figure of 704 ‘probable’ suicide deaths, some 11% down on the previous year’s 790. This represents 12.7 deaths by suicide per 100,000 people.
With Northern Ireland’s figures being finalised on 14th October 2025, the release of the figures will be in November 2025. A figure of 116 or more will take UK suicides over the 7,000 figure for the second successive year.
